We dug a trench with the excavator along the wall, placed filter fabric in the trench with a bed of gravel to hold it into place.  We placed 6in perforated drain tile with a silt sock in the trench and covered with gravel.  Then placed another layer of filter fabric on top of the gravel at grade and covered with more gravel.  This drain is to catch run off from another adjacent property and to catch surface water when it rains to keep water from pooling.
